Suicide Prevention Advocate - Speaker - Author - Digital Comms Specialist
HI, I’M LAUREN…
My passion is marketing and digital communications in health care, sporting & corporate settings. I am a senior PR specialist with 15+ years of experience in marketing, events and corporate public relations. Throughout my career, I have contributed to impacting business outcomes through effective organisation, prioritisation, and execution of critical projects and worldwide campaigns.
I am a local Perth girl who has been working & volunteering in the mental health and suicide prevention sectors for over fifteen years. After the death of my brother, Aidon to suicide in 2008, I created The Aidon Project. It was a passion project that has developed and grew into the Lauren Breen Foundation (laurenbreen.com.au) a broad community-based movement, aiming to raise the awareness and harness the voices of people with a lived expertise of suicide.
Between 2015 and 2020 O moved to the USA where I co-founded a project called CNQR, alongside fellow co-founder; Margaret Hines and was the Director of Communications at the Kevin & Margaret Hines Foundation based in Atlanta, USA. After returning to Perth in 2020 due to covid, I joined White Ribbon Australia as the Senior Communications Advisor for and then moved across to the sport world in 2021 as the Marketing & Partnerships Manager at Basketball WA and Perth Lynx.
Within the paid mental health sector, I was privileged to be the Team Leader for the Personal Helpers and Mentors & Partners in Recovery programs in my local community. Author of the book, “TRUST – Surviving the Ripple Effect of Suicide”, I have used my lived experience, coupled with my desire and determination to impact change. I am involved with many amazing projects and organisations including, Lifeline WA, Reach Out, Anglicare WA, LIVIN, A Stitch in Time and The Inner Ninja Foundation.
Taking my message worldwide, I have been working alongside fellow suicide prevention and brain health advocate, Kevin Hines in the USA and was involved with his documentary; “Suicide: The Ripple Effect”. I am across all things suicide prevention and mental health and am continuing to spread the message of hope & resilience to all the people I meet. When not working, you will find me on my couch, watching sports and tweeting about it.
RIP Aidon Breen
